The "Essex" class of aircraft carrier - 24 pcs. - were the backbone of the U.S. navy - together with the "Midway" class  during WW 2.

USS "Lexington" later became a museum ship in Corpus Christy - Texas - where I visited her 2 times - and - of course - took tons of pictures!

Another "Essex" class aircraft carrier - the USS "Intrepid" - I visited in New York where she is displayed as museum ship.  Also there - of course I took tons of photos , but you will have to wait for those as well - - -
