On above photo - and the following - you clearly see why Hong  Kong is sometimes referred to as "The Vertical City" - -

There is not enough flat land to spread over - so the city grows upwards - and actually Hong Kong has more skyscrtapers than New York - hence - "The Vertical City" -

The special thing about Lugard Road is, that it is not cut into the mountain side, but rather hangs outside the mountain -
