JUNK HARBOUR ABERDEEN

Take note of the many wooden boat yards, - in the center, - in the lower left side and to the upper right side of the picture.
All surrounded by fishing junks and permanently moored junks where the "Boat People" live - -
The first pictures on this side are from 1974, - but now - the last 4 pictures are from 1977.
That's great, because then I can show some pics of a VERY impressive floating restaurant - the JUMBO - in the middle of Aberdeen harbour - - -
It was built in 1976 - just one year earlier - and is built like a Ming Dynasty palace, - and it is the biggest floating restaurant in the World - - - VERY impressive - - -
At this point there have been several pictures showing the Chinese "Yuloh" oar which is widely used for stern sculling.
It is fixed to the stern so that it can pivot, - and it is amazing to see even large boats driven by such a long "yuloh" oar - - -
And it seems as if everybody can use it - old women - young girls.
Here it looks as if "smaller sister" is receiving instructions from "elder sister" on how to do - - - -
Take note of how long the "Yuloh" oar is - - - It gives considerable more punch than the normal oar can give, when we use this technique in our dinghies in Denmark - - -
Just look at those dragons - - -
Take note of the young lady in the red "cheongsam" - - - - She is there to greet people and to guide them inside - - -
And by coincidense the red "cheongsam" is just like Kit Yu's - many years later - - - :-)
Back to the real World again - - - -
These decorative "buckets" are for fish - - -
Remember that Aberdeen is a fishing village - - -
The names of the owners are written on the buckets - -
