CHINESE CLASSICAL GARDENS
- Ching Hui Yuan -
- another "secret" garden -
Some gardens are not famous at all,- at least not by the tourists -, and you only find them by coincidence.
Such a garden is the Ching Hui Yuan garden in Shunde, which was once the private residence of a rich man.
I call this garden "secret" in spite of the fact that it is absolutely not secret at all, but apparently it is too far away from the tourist trail to be known to the outside world, - just like the fantastic Yu Yin Shan Fang garden, which surprisingly enough -, is located very near Ching Hui Yuan.
Therefore you are likely to have it all to yourself, unlike for example the garden of the "Master of the Nets" in Suzhou, which is a truly fantastic garden, but a nightmare to visit because bus after bus in a never ending stream unload their miserable tourist groups faster than the garden can absorb them. But not so in the Ching Hui Yuan garden - - -
See for yourself in the following impressions from a visit to this fantastic garden - - -
Kit Yu, and a couple of Chinese friends and myself once took one of our many trips in order to explore China - - -
One place we stopped to have a georgeous Chinese lunch, - and just across the street - not very far away - we noticed something interesting.
However, - there was no parking lot, - no buses, no cars,- no people - - -
Still we went over there to explore, - and to my great delight it was another one of those fantastic Chinese gardens, - the Ching Hui Yuan - and it was open for people to go inside - - -
And so we did - - -
