                                                       The Haeinsa Library

This library is not just a library in the normal sense of the word, but must for sure be one of the most unique libraries in the World.

This library holds the Tripitaka Koreana , - over 80.000 printing blocks made of wood -, containing the wisdom of the Buddha - -

Being the place that holds the "Wisdom of the Buddha" is the reason why Haeinsa is considered to be one of the three "Jewel Temples" of Korea - - -

Therefore this unique temple deserves a separate section in this web site - - -

Note: When talking about printing blocks, it might be a good opportunity to mention, that the Koreans printed books long before Gutenberg in Europe came up with the same idea - -

In other words, - Gutenberg was not the inventor of the printing technique - - -

That honour should rightfully go to Korea.
