Starting with this photo, - that was taken in a photo studio in Hong Kong - I think in 1974 - when I was 28 years old - and served as 1st. Engineer on "Emma Jebsen".

This is another one of the pictures that I made upåon request from my parents, who obviously did not like that I never came home, from my exile in Hong Kong - - -

But life was so good there!  Hong Kong was one of the freest places on Earth, - very well organized - and very rich - and very exiting to explore, - and not spoiled by a greedy tax obsessed government - and as a young, good looking - and well educated male it was aparadise for checking out some of the Worlds most beautiful and interesting girls - - - -

To the left - me - First Engineer Karsten Petersen - and right - Radio Operator Henrik Cederberg - making fun of "something" and thereby themselves looking funny - - - -

This photo is a true historical gem, that I still laugh about to this day - - - -

The Radio Operator Henrik and First Engineer Karsten - me - were standing at the starboard bridge wing and just chattet about the World problems - - - -

On duty was Chief Officer Birger Hauerslev, - and from the bridge window he could see us, - and being a very experienced photographer - he would use the opportunity to take a shot of his two shipmates - - -

However, - Henrik and I noticed the duty officer  behind the window, - and spontaneously we started to look "funny" - - -

And Birger Hauerslev, - the photographer - took the shot, - and named it "To Tosser" - "Two Lunatics" - - - - And here it is!

And I LOVE it - - - -  Thank You Birger - - -

Here two pictures - above and below - that are NOT taken by me, - but I wished I had taken them - -

They were taken by my friend Niels Johan Vendelbo, - Radio Operator on "Emma Jebsen - - -

But disaster struck!

Niels was about same age as me, but suddenly one day I got a telephone call from his dear wife - Ragnhild - who could inform me, that Niels had gone to "the other side" - - - -

This is now 30 - 35 years ago, - and that was definately far too early, because we were about same age - - - and now he had gone?  What a blow - - - hard to take - - -

However, - Ragnhild - his wife - knew that I was very interesting in photos, - and since Niels' pictures from his former life at sea did not really appeal to her, - she offered me to take over his collection of maritime photos - - - - -

Also she offered me a lot of Niels' books - - - A huge gift - - -    Thank you Ragnhild - - -  I still take good care of it - - -

And as mentioned, - here is a couple of Niels' pictures of the crew on "Emma Jebsen" - - -  Thank you - - -

This photo is obviously not taken by me, because I appear on the photo - - - Also it is NOT taken with any of my cameras because the quality is too low - - -

Unfortunately I have forgotten who took the photo, so I cannot give any proper credit - - -

The Chief Engineer on the photo -Jens Jensen -  later passed away and is not with us anymore - - -  RIP Jens - - -

Jens was a photographer - like myself - and he was so kind to let me use some of his pics in my web site chapter on Rhederi M. Jebsen, - which he loved very much - and those of you who can still remember my old - now "dead" - web site might remember those interesting photos of great historical value - - - -

However, - when Jens passed away his widow approached me , and ordered me to remove all pics I have got from Jens, since she had now inherited the copyright, - and she suspected me to use the pictures commercially - - -

This was of course NOT so, - and I would NEVER, EVER even think about violating the intellectual property of others - - -

But to my horror, I could NOT remove any pictures - or for that matter insert new pictures - in my old web site - - -

The programs I used in the "stone age" ,- when I experimented with my old web site - did not exist anymore, so the only solution would be to delete the whole web site, - but that would be absolutely disasterous for just a few pics taken by others - and with permission - so I tried to convince Jens' wife, that I have NOT - and have NO plans - to use any of Jens' pics commercially -

But in vain!

Nobody seemed to be able to remove these pictures, - without deleting the entire web site, so I had a problem!

But finally I got a response from "Yahoo" in USA, who had an expert that could delete the pics, without also deleting everything else  - - - -

Therefore, - in this new web site of mine with upgraded and better quality pictures - you will NOT find Jens' contribution anymore - - -  I am sorry for that - - -

Actually I could just keep Jens' contribution to my old web site, because I had permission to use them, - but nothing in print, since several of my computers has "gone down" since then, - and the last thing I wanted in this World was a court case where I might loose, because Jens is NOT with us anymore, - and I do not have our old correspondanse about it - - -

Anyway, - on this new  "global-mariner"  web site I can remove and insert pics very easily because it is a professional program I use, contrary to the old one - where I had to make everything by myself - - - -
